ESL for International Spouses

The ESL for International Spouses Program was created to enrich the lives and improve the English levels of the spouses of international students, scholars, and faculty, regardless of immigration status. Experienced instructors teach conversational English, American culture, English grammar, and English literature. In the class, everyone has the chance to speak English and to ask questions.

Spring courses run January 22-April 25, 2019 (no classes the week of spring break or week after Easter).

There are two ESL class levels:
  • Developing English: meets Tuesdays from 9:30-11:30am
  • Expanding English: meets Thursdays from 9:30-11:30am

If interested, sign up here. Please sign up for only one level.

An additional elective course will be available on Fridays from 10am-12pm. Friday's class meets in the Dooley Room, LaFortune.

ISSA does not offer classes for those who are just beginning to learn the English language. For those individuals, we recommend they visit the Robinson Community Learning Center, the South Bend Community School Corporation Adult Education Center, or The Language Company for beginning English as a New Language (ENL) courses.
