About the Immigration Services Office
The Immigration Services office is located in Room 121 of the Main Building. If you, or your dependents, have any questions about any F-1 or J-1 immigration matters; applying for a visa; traveling outside the U.S.; the rules, responsibilities, or benefits of the F-1 or J-1 status; or working in the U.S.; please don’t hesitate to stop by the office between the hours of 1:00 – 5:00 pm. We will be most happy to assist you with any of your immigration needs or questions. Morning visits, between 8 am – 12 pm, are available by appointment only. To schedule an appointment, please call our main office line at: (574) 631-5243.
Special Note: J-1 and J-2 students with DS-2019 forms issued by other agencies or organizations (other than the University of Notre Dame) must address all employment and immigration related questions to your sponsoring agency/organization directly.
Goals and Services
Goals
- To help educate our F-1 and J-1 international students about their immigration rules, responsibilities, and benefits;
- To provide adequate materials and efficient services to help facilitate the timely and accurate processing of all immigration requests;
- To provide pro-active immigration advising to help students maintain their lawful F-1/J-1 status and eliminate any possible immigration problems/violations;
- To provide a friendly and welcoming environment for our international students and their families.
Special Services
- The creation and distribution of monthly newsletters and weekly email messages;
- The timely and careful processing of all F-1 and J-1 student immigration requests (such as travel signatures, program extensions, change of status applications, dependent documents, transfer requests, employment requests, etc.)
- The offering of special information sessions on various immigration topics (such as OPT, CPT, Academic Training, Maintaining Lawful Immigration Status, etc.);
- The development of immigration handouts, application packets, and special request forms for the smooth submission and timely processing of all immigration related requests; and
- A comprehensive website.
