Pre-Arrival Information

Please see the International Student Services & Activities Web site for COMPLETE pre-departure information on travel, temporary housing, documents to bring with you, what to pack, peer contacts, etc.

Immigration Forms and Assistance
For instructions on how to obtain an F-1 or J-1 visa, please see the letter from Immigration Services, included in this packet with your I-20 or DS-2019.

Travel Plans
Please arrange to arrive on campus in time for the mandatory International Student Orientation. Once you have scheduled your arrival to South Bend , you may submit an arrival form. If you wish, a volunteer will pick you up at the South Bend airport or at Notre Dame’s Coach USA bus stop.

Email Account
You may set up your account before arriving on campus. First obtain your student identification (ndID) number from Graduate or Undergraduate Admissions. Then, go to the following Web site and follow the instructions to obtain a NetID and set up your University email account: https://accounts.nd.edu/activation

Access to ND Web Site (InsideND)
With your NetID and password, you will be able to access insideND where you will find class schedules, student account and financial aid information, links to housing applications, etc.

Housing
You may apply for undergraduate, graduate, and married housing at the Office of Residence Life and Housing’s website – http://orlh.nd.edu. Other questions may be directed to:orlh@nd.edu

Temporary Housing
If your housing is not available at the time of your arrival, you may choose to stay on campus in temporary housing or at a nearby hotel or motel. Please refer to Temporary Housing for options.

Academic Guidance
Contact your academic department directly for information about selecting courses, departmental orientations and exams, etc. You will complete the process for enrollment and registration for classes through the insideND Web site.

Health Insurance
Please review the guidelines for selecting a health insurance policy. As an international student, you must maintain throughout your studies a health insurance plan. http://uhs.nd.edu/html/insure_bill.html
