Comments from Former Innsbruck Students
Insurance:
Adequate insurance coverage is a requirement of both of your J-1 visa status and as a matter of University policy. Although the University’s group insurance plan meets both requirements, former Innsbruck students believe that you may be able to purchase in Europe an adequate insurance policy that is more cost-effective. The University of Notre Dame, however, requires that you provide coverage through an insurer with a U.S. underwriter.
Enrolling for 9 Credits:
It is essential that as an Innsbruck student on exchange, you enroll for at least 9 credits at the University of Notre Dame.
Transfer of Credits:
Generally speaking, credits issued here for a course do not correspond to the number of credits which might be issued for the same course in Austria. It is important to retain a list of books and subjects covered within the duration of any course you complete here at Notre Dame. You should then present your list of books and subjects to your Innsbruck advisor so that the appropriate number of credits may be determined in consideration of these course materials.
